[THOUGHTS of PROSE]
The weight of regret sits deep in the marrow of me, like stones of sorrow stacked pressing into the earth with the slow insistence of disappointment —layer upon layer of unmet longing, of memories too dense to carry yet too woven into the fabric of me to leave behind.
My thoughts spill, trickling into the quiet fade of evening, where colors blend into a silent pain, where blue surrenders to the smudged whispers of gray, folding into the hush of expectations unmet.
My sense of betrayal
does not cry out, it does not fracture or burn, it settles—fine as dust upon my skin, filling the voids between breaths, lingering in the silence where expectations once echoed.
My arms full of strength, but unable to lift. Fingers closed, but they do not mend. My embrace is not salvation, only gravity—only the slow pull of sorrow speaking in a tongue both heavy and hollow, where disappointment thieves any hope of solace—embracing my despair.
Embracing a disappointment yet once again.
[EKPHRASTIC INSPIRATION]
The painting, titled "Disappointment" by Mukarram Sousli, portrays abstract figures composed of rounded, stone-like forms. They appear to be embracing, as if finding solace in shared sorrow. The background shifts from deep blues to warm yellows, a contrast that speaks to both melancholy and distant hope. The ground, layered with multicolored stones, adds texture and depth, further reinforcing the weight of emotion.
