` Bearing Witness `

`  Bearing Witness `

Sometimes it just seems as if poetry only serves to enlighten us - somehow bearing witness to those moments through which our impressions are conceived....

Serving only to shape those informing words that reveal our testiments to life's realities, not only the beautiful, but you know the ugly too, disclosing those stanzas as truths from our unique poetic point of view....

So often I wonder if we are only the couriers of those things both great and horrendous that we bear witness to along our way, just telling those truths as we comprehend them....

` Witnessing `

- thoughts -

I don't write to get rid of unhappy memories. I write to tell the truth of my life. I was here. I wrote. And I carried on living, just the same. With all those truths in tact.

- inspiration -

"Suddenly summoned to witness something great and horrendous, we keep fighting not to reduce it to our smallness."

- John Updike
