` Waiting `

There's a lot at stake
One more glass of whiskey
One last drink while I wait

A sound in the night, is that her car - Is it just a clue you're not home
I was waiting for you, now I'm drunk - There's no going back

All I needed was one more night - What if I was wrong, you were right
What if there's still love to be had

Now the moon is gone - the sun is rising
It's just me waiting for you, and you're not home

I don't need more time to think - It's just a reminder your not home
Now I'm drunk there's no going back

No need for one more night
I was not wrong
You were not right
There's was a lot at stake
I was waiting for you
You never came home

~ Writer`s Thoughts ~

This Holiday season, I pause to reflect on a time long ago as a young man living afar, wanting desperately to spend  Christmas Eve with my love. I just needed one more night, I wasn't sure if I was wrong or she was right. There's was a lot at stake. I was waiting for her, she never came home. We never celebrated, it was just another lonely night waiting for her, as I got drunk....she never came home.
