~ Writer's Thoughts ~

Van Gogh's mental illness has been well documented; when I came across this digital rendition captured by an unknown artist, I was compelled to revisit his history, focusing my research on how he found solace through his art. Even in moments of extreme mental dysfunction he always seemed to have an eerie clarity to his art. In the depths of his misery he was able to transform art  through his forever sadness.

~ Inspiration ~

"'I well knew that one could break one's arms and legs before, and that then afterward that could get better, but I didn't know that one could break one's brain and that afterward, that got better too."

- Vincent Van Gogh
