I KNEW

I KNEW

I knew as a young boy that I was different,

I knew as the son of a soldier that the expectations were greater,

I knew it was assumed I would follow in the Soldier's footsteps,

I knew the expectations,

I knew I couldn't be who I was,

I knew I had to be my Father,

I knew I would become a soldier,

I didn't know that when my father was gone that I would be lost without him,

I knew all along I was different.
